Holidays in Cilento

Terrae Cilenti Holiday House could represent an excellent point of departure to explore the Cilento and its coasts.

First of all it is interesting to visit the territory of Lustra and its hamlet Rocca Cilento with its castle that belonged to San Severino Princes.

Close to Lustra you’ll find the important archaeological sites of Paestum, or the ancient Poseidonia, and Velia, the Greek Elea, the home of the two important philosophers Parmenide end Zenone. The first one which represents one of the beautiful cities of Magna Graecia, was founded by Greeks from Sybaris in the 6th century BC. Paestum is famous for its great temples and for the archaeological museum with its ancient tomb paintings, standing out is the famous Tomb of the Diver.

Not to be missed is a visit to the magnificent Cilento’s beaches with their crystalline waters, that have been awarded “blue flags” for their clean seashores like the beaches of Agropoli and Castellabate. The last one is famous not only for its wonderful castle but also because it was the location setting for the popular film "Benvenuti al Sud".

The coast road goes on to Acciaroli, Palinuro and Marina di Camerota with white beaches and crystal clear waters. In this area you'll find, in the intense colour of the sea, beautiful caves such as the Grotta Azzurra, the Natural Arch or the Cala degli Infreschi, a large perfectly crescent-shaped bay.

A crowd-pulling event is the suggestive "Medieval Party" in Torchiara on 9th and 10th of August.

It is a social event of great importance which attracts thousand of visitors each year. Tourists are fascinated by the enchanting medieval village. During the party, performances, parades and entertainments commemorating the past, involve local residents and tourists on a fascinating journey through the streets of the country.
